What are participation requirements or restrictions?

Show Answer

Legally, you must be 16 years or older to operate an electric bike. Guides reserve the right to request proof of age of any rider. Riders should also be at least 5 feet tall to operate their own bike. Guests younger than 16 may ride as a passenger with an adult in their group on the back of one of our cargo bikes or in a child seat (for children ages 1-6 or up to 48.5 pounds). Please note: guests with children under 8 will need to book a private tour. Children must be at least 1 year old to ride as a passenger.

Can my children come on the tour? Do you provide equipment for children to ride along?

Show Answer

Yes, we love kids! For guests ages 1-15 years, they may ride as a passenger with an adult in their group on the back of one of our cargo bikes. A variety of seat options are available, depending on the weight and stability of the passenger. For our youngest passengers (age 1-6 years or up to 48.5 pounds), we will provide helmets and Yepp Maxi child seats at no charge. If you have children ages 7 or under, please book a private tour. Children must be at least 1 year old to ride as a passenger.

Can you accommodate large groups?

Show Answer

Groups up to 7 may book a public or private tour. For groups larger than 7, please book a private tour, and we will provide a second guide for safety purposes. We can accommodate up to 10 individual riders on private tours. We can accommodate larger groups for private tours by splitting your group into two or more parties.

How fit do I need to be?

Show Answer

The electric bikes will take all of the hard work out of your ride. We routinely have riders that span the spectrum of age and fitness. The main requirement is that you be coordinated and fit enough to balance a 55-pound bike. For people that would like to go on the tour but are not able to balance a bike, it is possible to arrange a ride on the back of one of our stretch cargo bikes that will be driven by another person in your party.

I’m not an experienced cyclist. Can I take this tour?

Show Answer

We provide instructions and a short practice ride before every tour. If a rider is not able to balance or complete the practice ride confidently, then we will either ask that they ride on the back of a cargo bike driven by another adult in their party, or that they accept a full refund and sit out the tour.

Are your tours safe?

Show Answer

Yes! We take every possible safety precaution before, during and after the ride. We have chosen the routes to utilize bike lanes and greenways wherever possible. Our bikes are bright and very visible on the road and we provide helmets to all riders. We take care of our bikes and inspect them before and after every ride. We also provide instructions and a short practice ride before every tour, along with a quick review of bike laws and signals. If a rider is not able to balance or complete a test ride confidently, then we will either ask that they ride on the back of a cargo bike driven by another adult in their party, or that they accept a full refund and sit out the tour.

Where do I meet my tour guide or pick up my bike rental?

Show Answer

Tours and bike rentals leave from our shop located just a short walk from downtown at 225 Coxe Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801. If you are driving, you may park in the gravel lot for $3/day or find free or metered parking on the surrounding streets.

What happens if it rains on the day of my tour?

Show Answer

We offer a 100% refund if a tour is cancelled due to rain. If there is light rain in the forecast but none at the start of the tour, we will decide together at the time of the tour whether to ride. We will provide rain ponchos and rain covers for the storage bags on the bikes to protect your belongings.

Are you able to store our luggage during a tour?

Show Answer

While we can’t be held liable for lost or damaged items, we are happy to hold your bags in our locked garage during your tour.

Will there be bathrooms along the way?

Show Answer

Yes. We make two stops during the tour that has bathrooms: the Grove Park Inn and the public pavilion at Pack Square.

Is food included on the tours?

Show Answer

There is no food included on our tours, but we provide spring water for every rider. If you feel like you may need a snack during the tour, you are welcome to bring your own and store them in the provided bike bag.

Do I have to sign a waiver?

Show Answer

Yes, a waiver will be provided and all riders must sign it before heading out on their tour. Minors must be accompanied by an adult who signs for them. Once your booking is made, you will receive an email asking you to sign a waiver before your tour. For more information or instructions on signing your waiver, please visit the Before Your Tour page.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Show Answer

For cancellations due to inclement weather, we will issue a 100% refund or allow you to reschedule for another time that works for you. For all other cancellations, we ask that you please give us at least 48 hours notice so that we may open up your spots to other people who want to ride. Please call or email us as soon as possible if you have any concerns about keeping your reservation.

Do I have to book a tour in advance? Can I walk up and buy a ticket at your shop?

Show Answer

The best way to ensure that a tour is available is to book online at least 24 hours in advance. Please call if it is less than 24 hours until the tour you would like to join. If you do walk-up 30 minutes before a tour and space is available, we will be happy to have you join us.
