Calling all storytellers! The Flying Bike is currently looking for charismatic storytellers and bike enthusiasts who want to share the history, art, culture, and community of Asheville with travelers from all walks of life. Our guides are responsible for bringing Asheville’s stories to life, sharing the joy of biking, and taking care of our customers like they were family. Guide positions are part-time, as-needed, with the potential to grow into full-time seasonal work as our business grows. We are an equal opportunity employer and strive to build a diverse team of people. Our vision is to be recognized as a leader in environmentally and socially responsible tourism, providing memorable, well-crafted tours and exceptional customer care, while having a positive impact on our planet and community.

Bike advocates need to apply. While you don’t need to be an everyday bike commuter or hardcore cyclist, we are all avid bike supporters and at least casual riders. You need to be comfortable on a bike, be able to teach the basics of riding an electric bike and be able to safely navigate a small group of riders around the city. Whether you’ve been riding for 1 year or 10 years, be ready to share your love of biking (commuter, road, mountain, electric…) with others. Bike maintenance skills are great to have, but not mandatory.

Feeling creative? Part of the role of our guides is capturing photos of our tours and city surroundings as well as contributing to our social media platforms. There may also be opportunities to use your talents in writing, video, photography, website management, marketing, and tour design.

The Flying Bike is a team-oriented, mission-based company, and we work hard to create a fun and caring work environment. We are Living-Wage Certified, provide perks and bonuses, and get together regularly for meetings and celebrations. Although we try to accommodate preferred schedules and hours, it is important that interested candidates understand the variable nature of tour bookings. Our peak season is April through October, while bookings November through March are highly weather dependent. Some bookings are scheduled far in advance and others may be booked the same day. Tours may also be rescheduled or canceled in the event of severe rain or cold.

What we offer:

  • A positive work environment built on trust, respect and good communication
  • Excellent hourly wage in addition to gratuities
  • Flexible hours and scheduling
  • Enjoyable work in the outdoors
  • Free tours for friends and family
  • Autonomy and the freedom to follow your passions and creativity within the business
  • Potential to grow your role and title in the business

Please fill out the application below. We will be in touch within the week!
