A Community of Crafts People
Join our Flying Bike guides for an e-bike ride through the renowned River Arts District (RAD) of Asheville. You’ll meet local artists and get a front-row seat to watch them practice their craft. The tour will take you off the beaten path, guiding you down bike lanes and bike greenways along the banks of the gently flowing French Broad River. Our first stop will be at The Marquee, an enormous art marketplace of curated vendors from around the region and beyond. Their collection contains artwork of all kinds, including photography, metalwork, woodwork, paintings, and pottery. We will also stop at Riverview Station, a massive industrial warehouse that has been converted into art galleries and studio spaces and is now home to more than 60 artists, craftspeople, and entrepreneurs.
After visiting The Marquee, we will continue riding down the French Broad River Greenway until we reach Small Batch Glass. There we will watch a master glassblower hard at work creating new masterpieces and learn about all the steps involved in creating a handmade glass piece. Before returning to our shop, we will make one last stop at New Belgium Brewery where guests can purchase a thirst-quenching pint and a tasty meal from a food truck. This tour is for those who want to experience Asheville’s vibrant local art scene, take advantage of our extensive bike infrastructure and enjoy the company of a friendly guide.
*Please note that food and drinks are not included in the cost of the tour but can be purchased separately.
